Chinoiserie Landscape Planter

First exported to Europe from China during the late 13th and early 14th centuries, blue and white porcelain gained popularity because of its distinctive characteristics.  Over the next century, a resurgence of art and architecture in Europe aided the high regard reserved for blue and white ceramic art similar to our planter.  A classic Chinoiserie design, our porcelain planter features stylized, abstract landscape paintings on all six sides framed by a border of ornamental geometric fretwork.  Saturated with variegated shades of blue and white, each is hand-painted by an artist with thorough attention to detail.
