Legend has it John Montagu, the Earl of Sandwich, would not stop to eat when he gambled.  Eager to continue the game, he asked that his cold slice of meat be placed between two slices of bread.  His ingenuity led this time-saving light meal to become his namesake.  Our solid walnut, hand-crafted versatile chair side table is an homage to Montagu.  It works perfectly for a light meal, like the Earl’s sandwich, or as its intended use as a dice table.  A clever design, one side of the 2″ high gallery drops down for ease of rolling the dice.  On hand carved lyre form legs with a cross stretcher and bracket feet, the surprising details of this Edwardian piece make it right at home in both your casual and formal decor.
